  • The time most suitable for practicing Yoga is in the morning before breakfast. It is the time when the mind is calm, composed and fresh and the body movements can be performed with considerable ease and vitality.
  • To get started you need to have the urge and confidence in yourself with a big heart and a small ego.
  • To practice Yoga you must seek a place which is calm, quiet, ventilated, free from dust , insects, unpleasant smell, draught, and moisture. There should be no distraction whatsoever.
  • Before you start Yoga, you must clear your bowels and bladder; clean your nostrils and throat of all mucus and don’t forget to drink a glass of lukewarm water and now you can start the Yoga after 15 minutes.
  • Never try to be very fast while doing your yoga steps always remember that you should begin with the easy postures and then proceed to the difficult ones. Be methodical and systematic.
  • Remember, in the beginning, all movements should be practiced lightly and you must discontinue going further if fatigue shows.
  • Yoga must energize and not cause weariness and depression.
  • It is advised to have Periods of relaxation in between if a particular step or exercise proves to be tiring.
  • While practicing Yoga, you should have a balanced diet and should be taken at an interval of 4 hours between meals.
  • Regarding the quantity of food, it should be moderate, only that which satisfies one's appetite.
  • Avoid overeating, fasting or eating once a day. Stale or non-nutritious food, can be harmful.
  • The clothes should be of maximum comfort and help ease of movement. It's best to wear loose or stretch clothing, such as sweat clothes, or leotards. For women, it is advised supportive sports bra. As such yoga clothes must be comfortable, breathable, & sweat absorbent and should not end up making you sticky and moist.
  • While performing Yoga breathing should be long and deep. You must remember to keep your mouth close and inhale and exhale only through the nose.
  • You should always keep a Yoga mat made of some comfortable materials. For lying postures use a woolen carpet or any other grass or hay mat and spread a clean sheet over it.
